A family in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria town has launched a widespread search for their missing pet cat, putting up posters across the area and announcing a reward of ₹10,000 for information leading to her return.
Hoor is a white Persian–Indian mixed breed cat who went missing from New Colony, a well-known residential area of Deoria, on December 21. Since that day, her family has been searching everywhere and has not given up hope of finding her. For the family, Hoor is not just a pet but an important member of their household.
The cat belongs to Yusuf Chishti, who lives near Gurudwara Square in New Colony. His daughter, Eman, shared how close the family is to Hoor. She said Hoor was adopted as a small kitten from Delhi in 2022 and brought to Deoria. The family has two cats in total. The older one is about five-and-a-half years old, while Hoor is the younger one.
On the morning Hoor went missing, the courtyard door of the house was left open. The family believes that Hoor may have slipped out quietly through the open door. As soon as they realised she was missing, they began searching nearby streets, parks, and houses. “We searched everywhere,” Eman said. “Some people called us saying they had seen our cat, but later we found out it was another cat that looked similar.”
After several days of unsuccessful searching, Yusuf Chishti decided to take formal action. On December 29, he filed an online First Information Report (FIR) regarding the missing cat and also submitted a copy to the Sadar Kotwali police station in Deoria.
To increase their chances of finding Hoor, the family put up posters with her photograph at a prominent intersection in the town. The posters clearly mention a reward of ₹10,000 for anyone who finds Hoor, returns her safely, or provides reliable information about her whereabouts. The family has also informed sanitation workers and people working in the area, hoping someone might spot the cat during their daily rounds.
Eman said she is ready to pay the reward to anyone who helps bring Hoor back home. Police officials said they have taken note of the complaint and will take necessary steps. After the FIR was filed, the local police station also began efforts to trace the missing cat. The family continues to hope that Hoor will be found soon and safely return home.
