A bizarre incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, where a woman lost her life after an illegal clinic operator and his nephew performed a surgery on her by following a YouTube video. The police have confirmed that the clinic was running without any valid permission.

The victim, Munishra Rawat, was suffering from severe stomach pain caused by stones. On December 5, her husband, Tehbahadur Rawat, took her to Shri Damodar Aushdhalaya in Kothi, hoping she would get proper treatment. There, the clinic operator, Gyan Prakash Mishra, told him that her pain was due to stones in the abdomen and that she needed surgery. He demanded ₹25,000 for the operation.

Before the procedure, Tehbahadur deposited ₹20,000 as advance payment. He trusted Mishra, believing he was a trained medical professional. But the truth was far more disturbing. According to the husband's police complaint, Mishra was drunk during the procedure.

He reportedly started performing the surgery by watching a YouTube tutorial on his phone. During the operation, he made a deep cut in the woman’s abdomen, damaging several veins and causing excessive bleeding. Her condition became critical, and despite efforts to save her, she died the next evening on December 6.

Mishra’s nephew, Vivek Kumar Mishra, assisted him during the operation. Police said Vivek works at an Ayurvedic hospital in Raebareli, and the illegal clinic had been running for years using his government job as a cover. After the woman’s death, the police launched an investigation.

The illegal clinic has now been sealed. A case has been registered against both the operator and his nephew for causing death by negligence. They have also been booked under relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, as the victim belonged to a Scheduled Caste community. Police teams are now searching for the accused, who are on the run. Authorities have also warned people to avoid unregistered clinics and to verify medical credentials before seeking treatment.
