India’s first Vande Metro renamed ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’

The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is expected to contribute significantly to boosting economies and fostering quicker, more dependable travel.

India’s first Vande Metro service has been renamed, as ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’ and was to launched today on September 16th. This service aims to enhance connectivity between cities by operating a route from Ahmedabad to Bhuj covering a distance of 360 kilometres with stops at nine stations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the service from Ahmedabad at 4:15 PM as announced by the Ministry of Railways.

The newly named ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’ promises travel between the two cities completing the journey in 5 hours and 45 minutes. With a speed of 110 km/h, this service is set to improve transportation for passengers offering convenience for both business and leisure travelers in the area.

The train service will operate daily except on Saturdays and Sundays depending on the direction. Train No. 94801 from Ahmedabad to Bhuj will depart at 5:30 PM daily except Saturdays and arrive in Bhuj at 11:10 PM. On the other hand, Train No. 94802 from Bhuj to Ahmedabad will run daily except Sundays leaving at 5:05 AM and reaching Ahmedabad by 10:50 AM.

Economic Boost Expected from Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Service

As it travels the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will make stops at stations, like Sabarmati, Chandiodiya, Viramgam, Dhrangadhra, Halvad, Samakhiali, Bhachau, Gandhidham and Anjar in both directions. This will enhance connectivity for these towns and streamline travel for commuters. The fare for the journey between Ahmedabad and Bhuj is set at ₹455. This new service aims to provide a cost-effective and faster travel option for the area making commuting easier and strengthening economic ties, between the cities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is part of a broader effort to improve rail connectivity, throughout India. On the same day, he also launched multiple Vande Bharat Express trains on routes such as Kolhapur-Pune, Pune-Hubballi, Nagpur-Secunderabad, Agra Cantt to Banaras and Durg to Visakhapatnam.

This initiative aligns, with the government’s efforts to modernize the country’s rail system and enhance transportation choices for residents. The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is expected to contribute significantly to boosting economies and fostering quicker, more dependable travel across the nation. The launch of services on this rail line is set for September 17, coinciding with the Prime Ministers birthday. This marks a milestone in Indias objectives for expanding rail connectivity.
