A 54-year-old woman from South Korea was caught by a team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Uttar Pradesh Police while trying to enter India without permission through the Nepal border. Officials said she was stopped near Seemant Inter College in Rupaidiha around 11 p.m. on Saturday night.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tewari told reporters that the woman, identified as Park Seryeon, also known as Yogsuk, is a resident of Seoul, South Korea. She was stopped by security forces during a routine check. When asked to show her documents, she couldn’t provide any valid papers to prove her legal entry into India.

Case registered under Foreigners Act

After the interrogation, the police registered a case against her under the Foreigners Act at Rupaidiha police station, and she was taken into custody. The team also seized her passport, laptop, mobile phone with a Nepal SIM card, Nepali currency, and other documents.

Link to Church of God

SSB’s 42nd battalion Commandant Ganga Singh Udavat told PTI on Sunday that "arrested South Korean woman Park Seryeon is also reported to be associated with the Church of God (World Mission Society)." Authorities are now investigating based on the information given by the woman.

The case is ongoing, and officials are working to find out why the woman entered India without proper documents and what her purpose was.
