A senior Iranian official has claimed that Pakistan would launch a nuclear attack on Israel if it drops a nuclear bomb on Iran. General Mohsen Rezaei, a top officer in Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a member of the country’s National Security Council, made this statement during a televised interview.

His comments come as both Iran and Israel exchange heavy missile fire, leading to at least 248 reported deaths — 230 in Iran and 18 in Israel.

Pakistan will stand by Iran, says Iranian General

“Pakistan has assured us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, they will attack Israel with a nuclear bomb,” Rezaei said on Iranian TV. He also claimed that Tehran still has “hidden capabilities” it hasn’t shown to the world yet.

Rezaei mentioned that Pakistan has promised to “stand behind Iran” and urged the Muslim world to unite. This growing support follows earlier clashes between Iran and Pakistan in early 2024 when both countries launched missiles at each other.

So far, Pakistan has not officially responded to the claim that it would use nuclear weapons against Israel. However, the country has openly backed Iran in its ongoing conflict. Experts say such support may be diplomatic rather than military, especially as global powers like the United States continue to stay cautious.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who returned to office in January, gave one of his strongest warnings to Iran so far. He said that if Iran attacks the U.S., “the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”

Pakistan slams Israel and the West

Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khwaja Asif, has also spoken out, criticizing Israel’s nuclear power and warning about possible regional consequences. “Western world must worry about conflicts being generated by Israel,” he wrote online. “It will engulf the whole region and beyond; their patronage of Israel, a rogue state, can have catastrophic consequences.”

According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), both Israel and Pakistan are among the nine countries in the world that currently have nuclear weapons.
