Israel has decided to retaliate after Iran fired ballistic missiles at the country. They have further assured the US that no oil fields will be affected during the counterattack.
This attack is launched in response to Israel's killing of Tehran-aligned militant leaders in the region, along with a general in Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
The pledges came in a call between Israel’s PM Netanyahu and US President Biden last week and a recent conversation between US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant.
The Washington Post has said that Israeli PM Netanyahu has assured that only military sites will be attacked. Further, it added that the plan was ‘met with relief in Washington.’
Biden has warned Israel against an attack on Iran's nuclear or oil facilities as it could turn into regional war and could lead to a rise in global energy prices.
In a post on X, Netanyahu asks UNIFIL personnel to get out of harm's way and apologizes for any damage done to their officers, adding that it is their right to defend themselves. He further claims that Iran has been attacking them constantly under the shadow of UNIFIL.

This attack was Iran's second attack on Israel after missiles and drones were fired in April.
