India to build world’s largest museum by 2025, Union Minister announces ambitious project

India is set to develop the North and South Blocks of Delhi’s Raisina Hill complex into the world’s largest museum by 2025, according to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The planned museum will be almost twice the size of the Louvre Museum in France.
An agreement between India and France has been signed to facilitate this ambitious project, said Shekhawat, who expressed pride in being part of this significant cultural endeavour.
During his visit to his Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shekhawat, recently sworn in as a Union cabinet minister, announced, “Once the Central Vista redevelopment project is complete and offices are relocated in 2025, the North and South Blocks will be transformed into a museum, making it the world’s largest.”
A Monumental Cultural Landmark: The World’s Largest Museum
The proposed museum will narrate India’s history, spanning over 5,000 years. Shekhawat emphasized that this museum will be a monumental cultural landmark, reflecting India’s rich heritage and history.
In addition to the museum project, Shekhawat mentioned that India will host the World Heritage Committee meeting for the first time next month. “India, which ranks third globally in the number of world heritage sites, is hopeful of adding another heritage site to its list,” he added.
