Tallest Lord Hanuman statue outside India unveiled in Texas, USA

The programs started from August 15, which was also the Indian independence day, and ended in the grand Pran Prathistha on August 18.

The global list of giant statues has received a new member: a 90-foot-high bronze murti of Lord Hanuman appeared near Houston, Texas. Called the ‘Statue of Union’. The monumental figure of Hanuman has now become the largest statue of Hanuman outside of India, the tallest statue in Texas, and the third tallest in America. In height the proposed monument is only outdone by the Statue of Liberty in New York, which is 151 feet tall, and the Pegasus and Dragon in Hallandale Beach, Florida, 110 feet tall.

Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji’s Vision Behind the “Statue of Union”

The Hanuman murti known as the “Statue of Union” was installed in the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, 35.kilometres from Houston, and was blessed in the Prana Prathishta Mahotsavam conducted from Aug. 15 to 18. For that matter, the organiser’s said that the statue signifies “selflessness, devotion and unity of purpose,” they said this because the statue has been named after Lord Hanuman who played an important role in uniting Lord Ram and Sita.

As reported by the news agency PTI, the organizers said “This awe-inspiring structure is the result of the visionary efforts of His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, a Padma Bhushan awardee, and a renowned Vedic scholar, who envisioned the project as a spiritual epicenter for North America.”

The programs started from August 15, which was also the Indian independence day, and ended in the grand Pran Prathistha on August 18. The statement added  “The rituals, led by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji and overseen by a multitude of Vedic priests and scholars, were a powerful display of devotion and spirituality.”

Flowers were showered by a helicopter during the ceremony and sacred water was sprinkled and a 72-foot long scarf was placed around the neck of the murti of Lord Hanuman. Many of its followers were present in thousands and they continued to sing ‘Ram, Ram’, ‘Hanuman, Hanuman’ all through the event.
