The United States will begin accepting applications for the H-1B visa for the fiscal year 2026 from March 7 to March 24, according to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Indians are the main beneficiaries of H-1B visas, which allow skilled professionals to work in the US. Every year, 65,000 H-1B visas are issued as per US law, with an additional 20,000 reserved for those who have completed higher education in the US.

What is an H-1B visa?

The H-1B visa is a special type of work visa that lets US companies hire foreign workers for jobs that require advanced skills and technical knowledge. Many technology companies in the US use this visa to bring in highly skilled workers, especially from India and China.

How much is the H-1B visa registration fee?

The registration fee for the H-1B visa is USD 215 per application.

The USCIS has announced that companies and their representatives must use an online account to register applicants electronically and pay the required registration fee.

The US fiscal year starts on October 1, and the selection process for the H-1B visa will follow the new beneficiary-centric system introduced in the fiscal year 2025. This means the visa selection process will focus more on individual applicants rather than the companies filing for them.

Many foreign workers, especially from India, look forward to the H-1B visa as it provides an opportunity to work in the US and build their careers in top companies.
