Kamala Harris, Vice President of the USA, is the top choice to replace Joe Biden if he opts out of the US presidential election. There is a fair chance of Joe Biden stepping down from the race following a disastrous performance in the debate against the Republican contender and former President Donald Trump.

Some senior sources from the democratic party have asserted that there is a wave of panic in the party following last week's debate. They are concerned whether he is fit enough to serve a second term.

According to some reports, there have been rumours that Joe Biden has secretly told his allies that he knows he might not be able to return to power if he fails to convince the voters that he is ready for the second term.

However, Joe Biden has publicly rejected all these rumours saying "No one is pushing me out … I’m not leaving. I’m in this race to the end and we’re going to win."

The Democrat voters also want Biden to quit as per a recent report, polls have suggested that one out of every four Democrat voters think Biden should quit. The polls also found that 81 per cent of Democrats want Kamala to replace Biden.

As per two Democratic congressmen, Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Lloyd Doggett of Texas, Harris should replace Biden.

Many Democratic leaders have suggested that Biden should pass the baton to Harris. James Clyburn publicly stated that Democrats "do everything to bolster her , whether she’s in second place or at the top of the ticket."

Summer Lee, a Democrat from Pennsylvania also favoured Harris as the obvious choice if Biden chooses to step down from the presidential elections.

If Biden steps down, other potential candidates in the race could include California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
