The conflict in the Middle East has become even more dangerous. On Monday, Iran launched around 15 ballistic missiles at Israel, just one day after the United States bombed three of Iran's nuclear facilities in Tehran. According to early reports from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the missiles targeted several parts of Israel, including Jerusalem and Ashdod.
People in many parts of Israel heard explosions and sirens rang out across northern areas. In Ashdod, Israeli medics responded to missile strike reports. News agency AFP confirmed explosions in Jerusalem, and The Times of Israel said some of the missiles directly hit Israeli territory.
The Iranian military said the attack was part of a new phase in its campaign against Israel, named "True Promise 3". The missiles and drones targeted Israeli cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa, according to Iran’s state media.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army responded by attacking six Iranian airports, destroying at least 15 aircraft, including fighter jets like the F-14 and helicopters. They also damaged runways and underground facilities. The IDF said, “As part of the effort to deepen air superiority in Iranian skies, the IDF attacked six Iranian regime airports in western, eastern, and central Iran.”
Iran warns US after strike, Trump says “Bullseye” hit on nuclear sites
Iran has strongly reacted to the US airstrikes on its nuclear sites. These attacks hit Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, three important nuclear locations. Iran’s top military leaders warned the US that it will now be seen as a direct target.
Ebrahim Zolfaqari, a spokesperson for Iran’s main military command, said, “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.” He said the US should be ready for “heavy consequences”.
US President Donald Trump confirmed that American stealth bombers and submarines were used in the attack. As the B-2 bombers neared Iranian airspace, a US Navy submarine fired over two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles to destroy air defense systems. Then, the bombers dropped 14 bunker-buster bombs weighing 30,000 pounds each on the nuclear sites. These bombs are specially designed to penetrate deep underground bunkers.
Trump wrote on social media, “Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran. The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!” He also warned Iran against retaliation and said, “The government must now make peace or future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier.”
Satellite images showed major destruction at the Fordow site, including possible damage to uranium-enrichment machines. But experts said that the full extent of damage has not been confirmed yet.
World leaders call for peace as war threatens to spread
The violence between Iran and Israel, now involving the United States, has worried many countries. The fight began with missile and drone attacks, but it has now reached nuclear sites and major cities.
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and said he was “deeply concerned” about the war. Modi also called for “dialogue and diplomacy” to stop further fighting.
China also strongly opposed the US airstrikes. Its government said the attack broke international law and could make the region more dangerous. “China is willing to work with the international community to pool efforts together and uphold justice, and contribute to the work for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East,” said the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The United Nations also responded quickly. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites marked a “perilous turn” in Middle East tensions. He spoke at an emergency UN Security Council meeting on Sunday and said, “From the outset of the crisis, I have repeatedly condemned any military escalation in the Middle East.”
The missile exchanges between Iran and Israel have now entered their 11th consecutive day, with no signs of slowing down. Both sides have increased attacks, and the involvement of the United States has pushed the region closer to a full-scale war.
