Forbes has released its list of the 10 most powerful countries in the world for 2025, with the United States taking the top spot, followed by China in second place. Israel completes the list at the 10th position. However, the absence of India from the top 10 rankings has been a subject of discussion, especially considering the nation's huge economic growth, large military, and global influence.

Why India is not in the Top 10

It is the world's fifth-largest economy and has the fourth-largest military. Yet, it finds itself at the 12th rung in the Global Power Rankings. This ranking was done by US News & World Report with BAV Group, a company of the global marketing firm WPP, and researchers from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, guided by Professor David Reibstein.

Country rankings were based on these parameters:

  1. Leadership
  2. Economic influence
  3. Political power
  4. Strong international alliances
  5. Military strength

Although India could not make it into the top 10, the country continues to expand its footprints around the world. Its booming economy, strategic international partnership, and one of the world's most powerful military forces place India's influence beyond denial.

India is currently ranked 5th in the world in terms of GDP. It lags behind the United States, China, Germany, and Japan. In the coming years, the economic growth and diplomatic efforts of the country are likely to make it a major player in the world.

Experts think that with further advancements in technology, military power, and diplomacy, India is likely to rank higher on the power ladder shortly. As an economy continues to grow and increases its presence on the geopolitical scale, India remains a country to watch in international affairs.

As India continues its ascent, the question is—how soon will it break into the top 10 most powerful nations?
