The Tesla boss publicly "endorsed" Trump on Saturday after he was shot in the public. Musk wrote on his X handle with a video of the incident, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
Musk's donations will bolster Trump's campaign, as his opponent Joe Biden is currently facing backlash from donors demanding that he step aside for a new nominee.
Palantir’s Joe Lonsdale and crypto billionaires Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss are among other big donors to the America PAC.
The donations reflect the increasing support Trump is gaining from major donors in the technology and financial sectors, which began following his May 30 conviction by a Manhattan jury on felony charges related to hush-money payments to an adult film star. On June 6, venture capitalist David Sacks hosted a fundraiser for Trump that brought in $12 million.
The Former President joined the first night of the Republican National Convention on 15th July after miraculously escaping the firing. He was cheered by the party supporters who gave him an ovation on his entry. Trump was seen with a bandage covering his right ear, which was injured in the assassination attempt.
As per the opinion polls, there is a close race between Trump and Biden, with the opposition leading in several key swing states. The momentum has shifted towards Trump following the June 27 debate between the two leaders where Biden gave a disastrous performance.
