"Keffe D" Davis has been indicted over charges linked to the 1996 killing of the iconic rapper, Tupac Shakur. Las Vegas authorities announced the arrest of the 60-year-old Davis, marking a milestone in the years-long investigation of the murder case that has created several conspiracy theories.

The Indictment and Arrest

According to the details, Davis was arrested on a Friday morning in Las Vegas, and an earlier investigation had involved a search conducted at his wife's residence in Henderson. The authorities have described Davis as the instigator in a plan for a retaliatory murder of Shakur, following an attack on Davis' nephew.

Leveling serious accusations, the authorities say that Davis admitted being present during the incident and was seated in the front of a white Cadillac that pulled up next to Shakur's vehicle. Shots rang from the back seat of the car, claiming the life of the young rapper who was merely 25 at the time.

An Unresolved Crime

"For 27 years, the family of Tupac Shakur has been waiting for justice," - Kevin McMahill, Sheriff of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

McMahill further stated that the investigation, which commenced on the night of September 7th, 1996, is far from over. Rather, it represents countless hours and decades of dedicated work by the homicide section officials.

Gang Rivalry and Murder of Tupac

Jason Johansson, the police department's homicide lieutenant, proposed that the murder was a resultant of a clash between two rival gangs from Compton, California. Shakur and Marion "Suge" Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, were affiliated with the Mob Piru gang, while Davis was aligned with the Southside Compton Crips.

Both factions attended a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Johansson stated that following a violent encounter involving Orlando Anderson, Davis decided to retaliate against Knight and Shakur.

Johansson presented a grim picture, painting Davis as the one who procured a firearm, rode in a white Cadillac with others, and handed the weapon over to the passengers seated in the rear. While the shooter remains unconfirmed, it is alleged that the group descended on the black BMW carrying Shakur and Knight, fired shots and swiftly fled the scene.

The Long Drawn Investigation

The investigation, however, ran for years, owing to a shortage of strong evidence. The investigations took a new turn in 2018, Johansson revealed, supported by new findings, one notable point of which was Davis' own admission concerning the crime.

“We have been through decades of pain. They have known about this guy, who been running his mouth, for years,"- Mopreme Shakur, Tupac's stepbrother.

Shakur, an influential figure in the music industry, left behind an immense legacy, being a powerhouse of creativity during his short career that was abruptly terminated by his untimely death. To date, his as murder stands out one of the most high-profile unsolved cases in the history of American crime.
