A toddler tragically lost her life after mistakenly drinking alcohol, thinking it was water, in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district on Tuesday. The Three-year-old girl dies after drinking liquor from her grandmother's room while playing at home. She was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness, where she died during the treatment.
According to the information provided by the sources, Sarita, the deceased girl, was playing at home while her mother was busy with household chores. During her play, she entered her grandmother's room and mistook a bottle of Mahua drink on the table for water.
After consuming liquor, the little girl started feeling dizzy and asked to take a bath. Noticing the smell of Mahua on her breath, her mother rushed and checked on the drink on the table.
By the time the mother realized Sarita had consumed alcohol, the little girl was already unconscious.
Sarita was rushed to the hospital by her parents, where she was further referred to the Ambikapur hospital. After being hospitalised on Monday, her condition eventually worsened, and she was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
The dead body of the girl was handed to her parents following an autopsy. The Chhattisgarh police have launched a probe into the incident.
