Spotify has updated its paid subscription options in India, bringing in four new premium plans designed for different kinds of listeners.

The new lineup includes Premium Lite, Premium Standard, Premium Student, and Premium Platinum. The Lite plan is the cheapest of the set and is meant for users who only want simple, ad-free music.

The Premium Lite plan is priced at ₹139 per month.

It offers ad-free music and audio quality of up to 160 kbps for one account.

The Premium Standard plan costs ₹199 per month and offers:

  • Audio quality up to 320 kbps

  • Offline downloads

  • Ad-free streaming

New users can also get the Standard plan for two months at the same price.

Spotify says both Lite and Standard are meant for people who want easy access to music and audiobooks without extra features.

Spotify is continuing to focus on India’s huge student community.

Its Premium Student plan is available only to verified students enrolled in recognised institutions.

The plan costs ₹99 for the first two months, and ₹99 per month after that.

It includes all features of the Standard plan, making it one of the most affordable options Spotify offers.

The Premium Platinum plan is the most advanced option, priced at ₹299 per month. It supports up to three accounts, allows offline downloads, and delivers lossless audio up to 44.1 kHz.

This plan also brings Spotify’s newest AI-powered tools, such as:

  • AI DJ

  • AI Playlist Creation

  • Mix Your Playlists

  • DJ Software Connectivity

Spotify rolls out AI ‘audiobooks recaps’

Spotify has also introduced a new AI feature called Audiobooks Recaps, currently available in beta for selected English audiobooks on iOS.

Users will see a Recap button, which plays a short summary of the sections they have already listened to,  without giving away spoilers. Publishers can start opting in from December 13, with a larger rollout expected later.
