Chanel Tapper, a student from California, has surprised people all over the world with her very long tongue. It measures 9.75 cm (3.8 inches) from the tip to the middle of her lip. Because of this, she holds the Guinness World Record for having the longest tongue among women, a title she has held since 2010.
Tapper enjoys the reactions her tongue receives from people. “I love it when people get such a shock that they scream in horror,” she shared in an interview with Guinness World Records. Her tongue, which is roughly twice as long as the average human tongue, is about the same size as an iPhone, making it a truly remarkable trait.
Over the years, Chanel Tapper has gained a lot of attention, leading to viral videos and appearances on different platforms, where she proudly shows off her long tongue. While people on social media have had mixed reactions, with one person comparing her tongue to the Marvel character Venom, Tapper embraces her special trait. She said, “I like little fun, silly things like that. That’s what makes my tongue the most fun—when I can do things that are outside the box with it.”

A fun journey as a record holder
For Chanel Tapper, the best part of holding a world record is getting to travel and meet other people who also have records. She said, "My favourite thing about being a record holder has to be when I get to travel and meet other record holders as well."
While Tapper holds the record for the longest female tongue, the longest male tongue record is held by Nick Stoeberl from the US. His tongue is 10.1 cm (3.97 inches) long, and he can even lick his own elbow, which many people think is impossible.
Chanel Tapper proudly continues to hold her Guinness World Record and enjoys her special talent with a fun and adventurous spirit.
