Delhi’s air pollution has become so serious that it is now affecting not only people but also pets. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has been in the “severe” category once again, and many residents are struggling to breathe. Unfortunately, animals are suffering just as much. A recent post on Reddit has gone viral, showing how bad the situation has become for pets living in Delhi.
In the post, a pet owner shared a heartbreaking photo of his Golden Retriever, who had to be put on a nebuliser because he was having trouble breathing due to the polluted air. The dog has been diagnosed with bronchitis, a condition that causes inflammation in the lungs and makes breathing difficult.
The pet owner wrote a sad caption: “Air so sh*t even my dog’s sick.” He also mentioned that the whole family is ill and included a chest X-ray of the dog, making people realise how serious the condition really is.
The image quickly spread on social media, drawing a lot of attention and concern. Many users commented saying that they were not surprised, because their own pets had also been suffering health issues recently.
People reported that their dogs and cats have been coughing, wheezing, sneezing, and feeling extremely tired because of the toxic air. Veterinarians in Delhi have confirmed that they are receiving many more cases of pets having breathing problems and infections caused by bad air quality.
Online reactions were emotional and supportive. One person commented, “Aww, poor baby. Hope he gets well soon.” Another user said that their pet had developed red, irritated eyes due to the pollution. Someone else shared that their rescued cat developed asthma after moving to Delhi and now needs nebuliser treatment twice a day for several months every year.
This incident shows how dangerous Delhi’s air has become for all living beings. It is not just a matter of discomfort anymore; it is a serious health crisis affecting families, children, and animals. The viral post has sparked discussions online, with people demanding urgent action to improve the air quality before more lives are affected.
