After the New Shepard rocket came back to Earth, a video of the door opening went viral and led to some strange claims online. Some people said the space trip with pop star Katy Perry and other women, run by Blue Origin, was fake. They pointed to a video that shows the door being opened from inside the capsule just a few minutes before Jeff Bezos, the owner of the rocket and Amazon, tried to open it on camera.

They used that moment as so-called proof that the mission was “fake,” saying that, based on safety rules and the design of the pressurised cabin, the rocket door should only open from the outside.

Pop starKaty Perry and five other crew members, including TV host Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez—who is engaged to Jeff Bezos, took off on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket from West Texas on Monday at 9:31 am (local time).

This flight was special because it was the first all-women space mission in more than 60 years. The rocket took them just past the Karman Line, which is the point that marks the edge of space. The trip lasted only 11 minutes before they returned to Earth. Photos showed the crew floating and enjoying weightlessness, with Sanchez smiling as her feet floated in the air.

So far, the company has not said anything about the viral video or the claims made about the mission. Photos released on Monday showed the crew floating inside the spacecraft during their short trip to space. One picture captured Lauren Sanchez smiling as she drifted weightlessly, her feet lifted off the floor. However, Blue Origin has not yet made any statement about the online rumours spreading about the flight.

Online buzz

Social media users have started raising doubts about the mission. One person claimed that the capsule door is supposed to be opened only from the outside by the recovery team, as part of safety rules. They said this incident made the mission look staged.

Another user pointed out that the passengers were seen opening the door from inside without any tools. They said one of the women opened and shut the door, then waited for a few minutes before Jeff Bezos appeared with a tool and acted like he was unlocking it.
