Finding an ideal date or partner on a dating app can be a challenge, especially for introverts. Additionally, there have been cases of criminals creating fake profiles to exploit potential victims.

In response to these concerns, the dating app Tinder has recently introduced a new feature. This feature enables friends and family members to act as matchmakers by directly recommending profiles within the app.

Melissa Hobley, the Chief Marketing Officer at Tinder, explained, "For years, singles have asked their friends to help find their next match on Tinder, and now we’re making that so easy with Tinder Matchmaker. Tinder Matchmaker brings your circle of trust into your dating journey and helps you see the possibilities you might be overlooking from the perspective of those closest to you."

Tinder users can share a unique link to a profile with up to 15 friends and family members simultaneously, and it remains active for 24 hours. Matchmakers can then either log in to their Tinder account or join as a guest to view the user’s profile. However, they won't be able to send messages or engage in chats with the profile.

Matchmakers can provide recommendations, allowing Tinder users to ultimately decide based on the feedback from friends and family.

According to Tinder, this feature was developed based on a survey indicating that "75 per cent of singles said they discuss their dating life with friends multiple times a month." The Matchmaker feature essentially acts as a virtual friend's endorsement.

This feature is currently available in 15 countries, including India, and will be launched globally in the coming months. Other countries where it can be accessed include Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA, and Vietnam.
