For those who dream of unwinding after a hectic day but cannot find time for a long bath, Japanese engineers may have the perfect solution. An Osaka-based company, Science Co., has developed a futuristic 'human washing machine' that promises a full-body cleanse in just 15 minutes—along with a touch of relaxation for the mind.
About the ‘human washing machine’?
Named the Mirai Ningen Sentakuki—or the "human washing machine of the future"—this innovative device combines AI technology with a unique cleaning process. The high-tech pod or the fighter jet cockpit is set to wash, dry, and refresh users with the least amount of effort.
The device will make its grand debut at the upcoming Osaka Kansai Expo in Japan, where about 1,000 lucky visitors will get a chance to try it out.
How does it work?
Inside the plastic pod, warm water fills up half of it, and then the high-speed water jets infused with micro air bubbles are blasted into the user's body. These tiny bubbles burst at contact, creating powerful pressure waves that effectively remove dirt and grime. Interestingly, this same technology is used to clean delicate electrical parts that cannot be washed with chemicals.
The experience, however, isn't only about getting clean—it's also about mental relaxation. Sensors in the pod chair monitor the biological signals of the user, including heart rate, to determine his state of mind. The machine, with the aid of AI, adjusts the water temperature and plays soothing videos inside the pod to help calm the nerves.
As Science Co. explains, the goal is to “wash the mind” along with the body, leaving users both physically clean and mentally refreshed.
Inspired by a 50-year-old concept
The human washing machine concept isn't new. In the 1970s, Sanyo Electric Co., now Panasonic Holdings Corp., presented a similar design at the World Exposition. However, despite its futuristic appeal, the device never made it to market.
Science Co.'s revamped concept, with cutting-edge AI and modern technology, introduces the idea to a fresh generation.
When can we buy it?
At the moment, Science Co. has not announced when the "human washing machine" will become available for purchase or what its price might be. For now, the preview of this unique bathing experience will be open to the public at the Osaka Kansai Expo shortly.
