GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke believes that with the rise of Artificial Intelligence, India will surpass the US in terms of the largest software developers community by 2027. Dhomke said that Indian developers are aiming to boost the digital infrastructure of the future, which is adding a considerable boost to the country's economy.
According to Dhomke, developers are using AI in the best possible way, which is benefitting them to a great extent. He stated, "Developers drive GDP growth and technological progress to the tune of trillions of US dollars. And the opportunity goes further because software developers are adopting AI faster than any other sector of the global workforce,"
What is GitHub?
Dhomke's GitHub is a developer-friendly platform that allows users to create, store, manage and share their code. In 2018, Microsoft acquired GitHub. Dhomke has contributed a major chunk in integrating OpenAI's GPT models to create GitHub Copilot, the world's first AI developer tool that helps autocomplete software coding. GitHub is a revolution in the developers industry.
How can AI contribute?
Flexing his company's effective usage in the developers market, Dhomke said, "Developers are already 55% faster using Copilot, an acceleration not seen since the industrial age." He further explained the effectiveness of AI in today's fast-growing market. He said, "We are living in an era where every company can and must become an AI company... each company who embraces this and becomes early adapters will exist on a whole other spectrum of productivity entirely."
According to Dhomke, the company should first identify the gaps in their functioning and then use AI to fill those gaps. "AI is a solution to the problem, that is the whole point," he added. Dhomke referred to his own company, saying that GitHub brought customer support volumes by 20% using AI. He further urged the companies to incorporate the AI culture into their functioning.
