OpenAI has launched a new subscription plan in India called ChatGPT Go, priced at ₹399 per month. This is the first time the company has created a country-specific plan, and it offers the option to pay using UPI, making it easier for millions of Indians who use digital payments daily.

Until now, Indian users could only use the free version of ChatGPT or subscribe to the more expensive Plus (₹1,999/month) and Pro (₹19,900/month) plans. The new Go plan is designed to be more affordable while still giving access to advanced tools.

What does ChatGPT Go offer?

The ChatGPT Go plan comes with several upgrades over the free version. Users will get 10 times more message capacity, along with the ability to generate images daily and upload files for easier tasks. It also includes a longer memory, allowing for more personalised answers that remember past interactions.

It also gives subscribers access to advanced tools such as Python for data analysis, making it especially useful for students, professionals, and creators. The plan is powered by GPT-5, which offers improved performance and better support for Indian languages.

Why is it special?

It is much cheaper than the Plus plan, making it a more affordable option for regular users. It is also the first ChatGPT plan in the world to support UPI payments, along with other popular Indian payment methods, ensuring easier access for a wider audience. Most importantly, the plan has been built especially for India, which has now become ChatGPT’s second-largest market.

Who is it for?

ChatGPT Go is designed for students, creators, and professionals who require more functionality than the free version but don’t need the higher limits of Plus or Pro. It’s ideal for tasks like content creation, problem-solving, and generating visuals at a lower monthly cost.

How it fits with other plans

With three subscription options now available in India, users can choose a plan based on their needs. ChatGPT Go (₹399/month) is the most affordable option, designed for regular users who want more than the free version. ChatGPT Plus (₹1,999/month) offers faster responses, higher priority access, and greater usage limits, making it suitable for heavy users. At the top end, ChatGPT Pro (₹19,900/month) is aimed at enterprises and professionals, providing advanced features, large-scale access, and customisation.

Availability

The Go plan is live now on the ChatGPT website and mobile app. Users can subscribe using UPI or other supported payment methods. At present, all plans, Go, Plus, and Pro, are available only on a monthly renewal basis. The rollout is gradual, so not everyone may see the plan immediately.
