Reliance Jio has launched its first laptop in the country. The laptop is listed on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal that reveals its specifications and price. Listed as Jio Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 11.6 Inch Netbook, the laptop costs ₹19,500. Although it is already on sale, not everyone can buy it. Only government departments can shop via the GeM portal. It is expected that the laptop will be made available for the general public during Diwali.
Folks at TelecomTalk have got their hands on Jio's first ever laptop - Jio Book. The laptop looks quite sleek and lightweight in blue colour and a Jio Book branding at the bottom on the screen. Right on top of the laptop, there's the Jio logo. The overall build of the Jio Book looks solid even though it is made of plastic.
This device has been designed for those users who want to buy a laptop in a limited budget. This low-cost laptop is equipped with an in-built 4G LTE support. The device comes with an 11.5-inch TN display (Twisted Nematic) with 1366×768 HD resolution. This laptop is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset and has Adreno 610 GPU. It has 2 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32 GB inbuilt storage is available.
But Jio is not just competing with Telco rivals, it’s gradually also taking on the smartphone makers with its ultra-cheap feature phone the – JioPhone.
Last year, the company launched JioPhone Next, priced aggressively at Rs 6,499.
At this price range, even the most established smartphone makers struggle to offer a decent device. But Reliance has enough might to do that.
