As TikTok worked to restore its service in the U.S. on Sunday, Instagram revealed plans to launch a new video editing software called Edits. Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared the news, stating that the software is expected to be available by February.
This move comes after the U.S. banned TikTok and CapCut, both owned by ByteDance, on the same day. Mosseri noted that despite the ongoing global challenges, Instagram remains focused on supporting video creators by offering innovative tools that will be useful not only for Instagram but also for other platforms. He assured users that Edits would enhance their video editing experience and contribute to their creative efforts.
Instagram’s new video editing software, Edits, is available for free pre-order download from the Apple App Store. Instagram Head Adam Mosseri announced that the software will also be made available for download on the Google Play Store in the future.
All about Edits
Edits will provide users with the ability to create and edit videos, share them directly to Instagram, and track analytics for Instagram Reels. According to the app's description on the Apple App Store, Edits will support video creation of up to 10 minutes long and in 1080p resolution.
The app will also include a variety of creative features, including artificial intelligence-powered animation, generative captions, and overlays such as text, sound and voice effects, filters, and stickers. These tools are designed to enhance the video editing experience for creators, making it easier to produce high-quality content for Instagram.
Release date of Edits
Edits will be available for free pre-order download from the Apple App Store. While Instagram Head Adam Mosseri stated that the first version of the app is likely to be available in February, the Apple App Store lists March 13 as the expected availability date.
Once released, Edits will offer a range of creative features for video makers, allowing them to create and share videos, track Instagram Reels analytics, and utilize AI animation, captions, and overlays.
