In a time when the entire world is only connected through the internet, we must acknowledge the fact how India managed to escape the high prices of the internet in developing countries to provide the cheapest, most affordable digital outreach.
As per the latest report on Internet prices in 2020, India's per GB internet cost is below $0.09 while the countries with which the netizens of India keeping comparing themselves to for example US/UK/Canada/China are well over $10.
The interesting fact is before the launch of Jio or considering before the NDA government came in power, prices of the internet in India were over Rs. 300 as well. But along with the 'Digital India' campaign of government and 4G launch by Jio in 2015 decreased the prices drastically.
Without accepting how in the absence of Jio, the monopoly of 2-3 major telecom companies in India had taken the prices on a higher scale which is why it was difficult for the Internet to reach lower-income households.
PM Modi's pledge to further grow the internet users in India and pushing forward the digital payment methods has helped and brought India to the second position on the list of most internet connections in the world.
This comes in a time when a huge amount of people of particular ideologies are boycotting jio without conceding the fact that without Jio, the internet would not have been so easily available to the Indian markets for extensive use.
