Google’s Cloud accidentally deletes $125 billion pension fund account

Over 620,000 people are affected as UniSuper's partnership results in the loss of retirement funds.


Over half a million UniSuper fund members were unable to access their superannuation pension fund account for a week due to a unique Google Cloud “misconfiguration.” This error resulted in the deletion of the financial services provider’s private cloud account, as revealed by both Google and UniSuper.

Reports says, that this incident was not a result of any cyber-attack or malicious activity. No personal data was compromised during this unfortunate turn of events. It was solely a mistake made during the provisioning of UniSuper’s Private Cloud services.
