Casio, well-known for its digital watches, has launched a new and unique product, a watch that fits on your finger like a ring. Named CRW-001-1JR, this tiny watch includes all the classic Casio features in a compact design. It has been created to celebrate Casio’s 50th anniversary and will be available in Japan in December for 19,800 yen, which is about Rs 10,810.
What makes the ring watch special?
The ring watch is very small, less than an inch in size, but it has a small LCD screen that shows the time in hours, minutes, and seconds. It also has three tiny buttons. These buttons let you check the date, set a second time zone, or use a stopwatch. The watch has a strong stainless-steel frame around it, and the screen has a light, so you can see the time even in the dark.
The watch does not have a speaker, so it doesn't make a sound for alarms. Instead, the screen flashes to alert the user. It is also waterproof for everyday use and has a battery that can be replaced. The battery lasts up to two years before needing a change.
Is it an alternative to smart rings?
Casio's ring watch is different from smart rings like the Galaxy Ring because it doesn't have fitness features such as tracking sleep or checking your heart rate. Instead, it is designed to offer basic watch functions in a small and simple design.
The ring watch is 20mm in size but comes with spacers that can adjust it to fit 19mm or 18mm sizes. Casio says it’s a tiny version of its classic digital watches, made to look stylish while still being useful.
