Google is providing its employees with the option to stay overnight "on campus" for a fee. In 2022, Google encouraged its employees to work from the office for a minimum of three days each week. Subsequently, the company introduced more stringent measures, such as mandatory attendance for performance evaluations and the monitoring of badge data.
Presently, Google has introduced a "special discounted" opportunity for its full-time employees, allowing them to stay at its Mountain View office complex for $99 per night. As per a report, this "Summer Special" offered by Google will remain available until September 30, with the company aiming to facilitate a smoother transition for its employees into the hybrid workplace setup.
The description of the offer suggests, "Imagine foregoing the morning commute to the office and, instead, gaining an extra hour of rest and reduced hassle. Additionally, you could step out of your room and conveniently enjoy a delightful breakfast or engage in a quick workout before the workday commences."
Furthermore, Google proposes that hotel occupants have the option to "indulge in a serene evening atop the rooftop deck or partake in any of the enjoyable local activities" once their workday concludes.
Located within Google's expansive 42-acre Bay View campus, which was inaugurated last year in Mountain View, the hotel can accommodate up to 4,000 employees.
Nonetheless, not all employees are embracing the proposition. Some find it perplexing that Google anticipates its staff to cover the cost. In response, a Google spokesperson informed that the company presents these special opportunities to its employees, allowing them to make use of the company's facilities and amenities.
