Adani Group and Google have partenered up to increase the nation's supply of clean energy. The two businesses stated in a joint announcement that as part of the partnership, a new project in Gujarat's largest renewable energy plant will supply the energy. Google announced the news at the 'Google for India' event, and Adani provided additional specifics in a release.

Under this agreement, Adani will provide clean energy to power Google's cloud operations in India. The renewable energy will come from a new solar-wind hybrid project in Khavda, Gujarat, which is home to the world's largest renewable energy plant. The project is anticipated to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025.

In the announcement, the Adani Group emphasised the importance of this collaboration in assisting Google in meeting its 24/7 carbon-free energy target. Google has set a goal of using only sustainable energy to power its cloud services and operations by 2030.

"Through this partnership, Adani will supply clean energy from a new solar-wind hybrid project located in the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda, Gujarat. This new project is expected to start commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025," the Adani Group added.

The project will significantly improve Google's sustainability goals, allowing it to power its Indian operations more efficiently while also contributing to the expansion of sustainable energy in the country.

Google already uses grid electricity to power the majority of its cloud operations, and it has pledged to operate them fully on renewable energy by 2030. This collaboration will aid India's efforts to achieve its ambitious aim.

"With proven capabilities in delivering large-scale wind, solar, hybrid, and energy storage projects, Adani is well-positioned to provide customised renewable energy solutions to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers to meet their energy requirements and reduce their carbon footprint," according to the release.

The collaboration is expected to have a greater impact on India's clean energy sector as well.
