These Indian cricketers have earned the most through T20i match fees
Star batters Virat Kohli and team India captain Rohit Sharma did not feature even in a single T20i game in 2023
2023 was a good year for Indian cricket, especially in T20 internationals where we saw the rise of so many young talents such as Rinku Singh, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Tilak Verma, etc. This was possible as the BCCI wanted to test out and groom the young cricketers, whilst also managing the workload of the senior team players such as team India captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who did not play a single T20 and many other senior team members who played relatively less T20i’s.
This situation also led to some of the rising young talents being the highest earners in T20i’s this year. The left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh played 19 games for India, the most by any player in T20s this year, and with BCCI paying 3 lakh per game as their match fees, Arshdeep also became the highest earner through T20i match fees. Singh is followed by the current Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav who has recently replaced the injured Hardik Pandya in the just-concluded India-Australia T20 series.
Suryakumar has played 16 T20Is this year making his total match fee around INR 48 Lakhs in 2023. The third spot is taken by Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel and Tilak Varma who’ve played 13 matches each and earned INR 39 Lakh. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi and Shubman Gill sit on the fourth spot having played 11 matches with earning of INR 33 Lakh each.
The young team India has had a great year in terms of experience and results with the team winning 5 series out of the 6 played in 2023 and 14 out of 21 T20s played. Their only series loss came against West Indies who defeated India 2-3 in August. India’s previous T20 series was against Australia which the men in blue comfortably won 4-1. Their next 3 match T20i series will be against the mighty Proteas beginning on the 10th of December with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side.
