After 18 long years of waiting, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally lifted their maiden IPL trophy, beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by a narrow six-run margin in a thrilling final match held on Tuesday. With the victory, RCB also bagged the winner's prize money of ₹20 crore.
Runners-up PBKS weren’t left empty-handed either, they walked away with ₹12.5 crore for their outstanding performance in the season.
The top four teams get big rewards
Mumbai Indians, who made it to Qualifier 2 and secured third place, earned ₹7 crore. Gujarat Titans, who were knocked out in the Eliminator, received ₹6.5 crore for finishing fourth.
The IPL prize pool has grown significantly since the first season in 2008. Back then, the winning team got ₹4.8 crore, while the second-placed team took home ₹2.4 crore.
The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) received the 'Best Pitch and Ground' award for the matches hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The venue hosted seven league matches this season and earned ₹50 lakh along with the award.
DDCA President Rohan Jaitley thanked everyone involved and said, "This award is a testament to the tireless work of our curators, staff, and management. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in cricket infrastructure."
