In just a few days, the massive cricket showdown of the ODI World Cup 2023 will take place between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The cup seems to have brought not only the cricket excitement but also an unprecedented security arrangement to ensure the smooth conduct of the match. As per the latest reports, over 11,000 security personnel from various agencies are being deployed for this grand event.

Extensive Security Arrangements in Place

The match has called for an extraordinarily high level of security preparations. The cheering audience and cricket enthusiasts can expect strong safeguards ensured by competent authorities, including the Gujarat Police, NSG, RAF, and Home Guards. The deployment of these heavy security measures is the result of some reported threats.

A senior officer confirmed, "Along with more than 7,000 police personnel, we will deploy nearly 4,000 home guards to secure the stadium and to maintain law and order in communally sensitive areas of the city during the match. In addition to these personnel, we will deploy three 'hit teams' and one anti-drone team of the NSG. Nine teams of our bomb detection and disposal squad will also be utilized."

 Proactive Measures and Evacuation Plans

The authorities have not only focussed on the security within the stadium but have also planned efficient handling for any kind of emergencies that could potentially arise. An evacuation plan has already been prepared and rehearsals are ongoing to ensure safety and smooth dispersion of the crowd in case of urgency.

"We have already prepared an evacuation plan and rehearsals are also going on at the stadium," conveyed GS Malik, one of the senior police officers, providing reassurance about the meticulously planned safety measures. How these arrangements would effectively be implanted remains to be seen.
