In a positive development for the Indian dressing room, Kohli promises BCCI to resolve all the previous on-ground feuds with the newly appointed coach, Gautam Gambhir, for the betterment of the National Team.

Both players have a history of numerous on-field clashes, which has concerned Indian fans since Gambhir's appointment as the head coach. Their rivalry dates back to 2013 when they first clashed during an IPL match between Kohli's RCB and Gambhir's KKR. Since then, the Delhi boys have engaged in many such on-ground disputes.

However, a positive gesture chilled their heated relationship in this year's IPL when the two players hugged each other and shared a few light moments after the match.

Recently, a Cricbuzz report highlighted that "Kohli is comfortable working with Gautam Gambhir and has communicated this clearly to the relevant BCCI officials. Despite their history, marked by a bitter confrontation captured by cameras during IPL games in the past, Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room. Following the World Cup final in Barbados, discussions were reportedly held on the matter. Kohli, who, like Gambhir, is from Delhi, assured the concerned parties that he recognizes both are working towards the country's interests and is ready to move on from earlier disagreements,"

Gambhir’s First Series as Coach

Gautam Gambhir, after a few days of his appointment, made it very clear that he wants his star players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah to be available for his first series against Sri Lanka in August even though all three of them wanted a break following the World Cup winning campaign.

Respecting the instruction of their coach, Rohit and Kohli made themselves available for the ODI series, which will commence on 2nd August. Meanwhile, Bumrah remains unavailable. as part of routine workload management.

Both sports stars have attempted to bury their past conflicts from this IPL. Gautam Gambhir has significantly appreciated Kohli during his interviews, and Kohli has done the same during some PR events.

Gambhir’s Perspective on the Relationship with Kohli

Explaining his relationship with Kohli, Gambhir said in an interview following the IPL victory, "The perception is far away from the reality. My relationship with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn't need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to the public."

Kohli, on the other hand, taunted the haters during a Puma event. He said, "People are very disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day, Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) came and hugged me. Your masala is over, so you're booing. We're not kids anymore."

Gambhir was appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian National Men's cricket team recently on 9th July, after Rahul Dravid completed his tenure with a World Cup victory. It is to be noted that Gambhir has led the KKR to win the IPL trophy before getting the role of India's Head Coach.
