BCCI secretary Jay Shah offers Rs 8.5 crore in support of the Indian Olympics heading to Paris

The financial aid from the BCCI will directly benefit the Indian athletes participating in the Paris Games, scheduled to commence on July 26.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has pledged financial assistance to Indian athletes preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Jay Shah offers Rs 8.5 crore (approximately $1.03 million) as a contribution to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to support the Indian contingent at the upcoming Olympics. This contribution aims to bolster the Indian athletes’ campaign at the prestigious quadrennial event, which is scheduled to begin on July 26.

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, officially announced this decision via social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). In his statement, Shah expressed pride in supporting the incredible athletes representing India on the global stage.

Jay Shah’s message also conveyed the BCCI’s best wishes to the entire Indian contingent.

“I am proud to announce that the BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind!” He tweeted.

India is set to send a contingent of 117 athletes competing across various disciplines at the Paris Olympics. Additionally, a support staff of 140 members will accompany the athletes, bringing the total contingent size to 257. The BCCI’s contribution will undoubtedly bolster the efforts of both athletes and support staff as they strive for excellence.
