Spain claimed their fourth European title by defeating England in the Euro final. The Spanish side won the game by 2-1 with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the winning goal in the 86th minute for Spain. It was the second consecutive Euros final loss for England as they lost to Italy in the last Euros.

Spain dominated the whole tournament with zero defeats and no ties, all perfect victories. Meanwhile, England suffered throughout their campaign and somehow managed to reach the final. Germany hosted the 2024 Euros and the final was played in the Olympiastadion stadium in Berlin.

The first half was neutral as both teams failed to score with zero attempts on target. However, Spain was more attacking with most of the possession. The match became exciting in the second half when Niko Williams hit the first goal in the 47th minute making it one-nil for Spain. Following the goal, the Spanish side controlled the game, but things changed when Cole Palmer entered the pitch. He launched a rocket goal in the 73rd minute, equalizing the game for England. Spain hit back in the 86th minute with the winning goal of Oyarzabal.

Golden Boot Winners

The Spanish winger Niko Williams was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant performance. Rodri the Spanish midfielder, won the Player of the Tournament award for his consistent performance throughout the tournament and 17-year-old Lamine Yamal won the Young Player of the Tournament award for his exceptional performance, providing four assists and one goal in the tournament. He becomes the Youngest player to win a European championship.

The Golden Boot which is given to the top scorer of the tournament, will be shared by six players who scored three goals in the tournament. Dani Olmo, Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, Jamal Musiala, Ivan Schranz and Georges Mikautadze will be sharing the award.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Performance and Future Plans

Last season Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Boot with five goals but this time he failed to score a single goal in what is being considered as his last Euros. However, he has hinted that he may play in the FIFA World Cup which is to be played in 2026.

Spanish domination continues in European football for both clubs and countries. Last month Spanish club Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League by defeating the German underdogs Borussia Dortmund.

Spain will play against Argentina in Finalissima 2025, as the World Cup winners have won their second consecutive Copa America title by defeating Columbia in the finals. The winner of Europe and America faces each other in the Finalissima. Last time Argentina won it by defeating Italy.
