Among the first to arrive was Virat Kohli, one of the biggest names in Indian cricket. He is returning to the ODI team and his presence brings a lot of confidence. India has been relying on Kohli’s experience and calmness, especially after the batting struggles during the Test series. His return is expected to help stabilise the middle order.
The first ODI will be played on November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. India had performed well here during their last ODI in 2022, so the team will hope to repeat that success. With Rohit Sharma also joining the squad, the overall leadership and direction of the team are expected to be stronger.
Rishabh Pant was another player spotted at Dhoni’s home. Pant had a tough time in the recent Test series. He even led the team in the second Test after Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury, but Pant managed to score only 49 runs across four innings. He faced criticism for some of his shot choices and later apologised publicly, saying the team “didn’t play good enough cricket.”
Pant is now back with the ODI squad and has a chance to regain form. He last played an ODI in August 2024. With Gill not available for this series, Pant may get more opportunities to bat higher in the order.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also visited Dhoni’s house. He has earned a place in the ODI team again after strong performances in domestic cricket. His return adds depth to India’s top order, and both he and Pant seem eager to make a mark.
As the team gathered in Ranchi, the overall mood hinted at unity, renewed energy, and determination. With senior players returning and youngsters ready to prove themselves, India will aim to start the ODI series with confidence and rebuild momentum after the Test disappointment.
