According to a report by The Economic Times, Indian dairy company Amul has been announced as the sponsor of the cricket teams from South Africa and the United States for the next T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start in June. At a New York ceremony, Amul was named the primary arm sponsor of the USA cricket team.

With this agreement, Amul is demonstrating its dedication to growing cricket's popularity in the USA, where milk is currently available.

On June 1, the USA squad will play its opening game versus Canada as co-hosts of the event.

Amul has a track record of supporting cricket teams, such as the Netherlands, and its partnership with the South African side bolsters its standing in the international cricket scene.

"This association with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), responsible for marketing milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, signifies a significant step towards expanding and popularizing cricket across the nation," the USA cricket board said in a release.

The chairman of USA Cricket, Venu Pisike, expressed enthusiasm at the collaboration with Amul and emphasised their shared dedication to quality.

Amul's managing director, Jayen Mehta, stressed that Milk would back the USA team in their desire for victory.

Amul has been associated with the South African side since the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2019 ODI series. Mehta wished the Proteas luck in the T20 World Cup and expressed delight in fortifying their partnership with them.

Mehta further said that in order to serve the Asian and Indian diasporas, GCMMF, the parent company will be introducing four milk varieties in the US market. Additionally, the business intends to launch future fresh milk products like buttermilk, curd, and paneer.

The GCMMF had an 18.5 per cent growth in turnover from the previous year, with an approximate revenue of Rs 55,000 crore in the fiscal year 2022–2023. Around 50 countries currently receive dairy products from the company.
