Rohit Sharma made history on Saturday after leading India to a nail-biting 7-run victory over South Africa to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. With this win, Kohli adds the elusive T20 World Cup to his collection of ICC trophies, surpassing MS Dhoni’s record.

Virat Kohli, who has now won the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and the Champions Trophy, becomes the only player in history to achieve this feat, adding to his previous U-19 World Cup win. This distinguishes him from other cricket legends, including Yuvraj Singh, who won a shared ICC Champions Trophy.

The journey to this win was challenging for Kohli. Throughout the tournament, he struggled to make significant runs but rose to the occasion in the final. After India was 34-3, Kohli and Axar Patel stabilized the innings with a 72-run partnership. Kohli’s calculated 76 runs off 59 balls helped India post 176 runs.

India's formidable pace trio, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah defended the target successfully, ensuring India's victory and Kohli’s historic achievement.

With this triumph, Kohli now shifts his focus to the Test Championship, the only major accolade left for him to conquer. His T20 World Cup win marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career.
