The fake bomb threats on social media have caused major disruptions to Indian and international flights. The account @adamlanza111(now suspended) has threatened numerous flights, leading to delays, cancellations, and heightened security measures at airports. It initially targeted 12 but later the number reached to 34.
The account started by targeting Indian airlines but has now expanded its threats to international airlines like American Airlines, JetBlue, and Air New Zealand.
Many airlines had five flights threatened, but Star Air had four. Some planes had to declare an emergency because of the threats. The threats said there were bombs in the flights and that everyone would die. Some planes were already in the air when the threats were issued, while others had already flown.
24 Indian airline flights were threatened with bombs on Sunday including IndiGo, Vistara, Akasa Air, Air India, and Akasa Air, and some other international flights.
Indian aviation has faced a wave of threats this week. Nearly 90 flights across Indigo, Vistara, and Air India have been impacted, with most of these threats ultimately deemed false alarms. While the aviation industry is working diligently to maintain safety standards, the persistent occurrence of such threats underscores the need for robust security measures and continuous vigilance."
Recently pro-Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threatened international passengers from boarding Air India flights from November 1 to 19. Issuing the warning Pannun said, “ As it is 40th anniversary of Sikh genocide, therefore an attack could happen in an Air India flight.”
A similar threat was issued by him last year by him for the same date. He released a video saying, avoid travelling to Air India flight from November 1 to 19.
