Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has over 100 million followers on social media site X (previously Twitter), has emerged as the most popular global leader on social media. With 38.1 million followers, US President Joe Biden, 11.2 million followers, and 18.5 million followers, Pope Francis, and Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed are the only other international leaders Prime Minister Modi has more than this milestone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also well ahead of other Indian leaders in the country. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has 27.5 million followers, while Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has 26.4 million. Along with Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, who has 19.9 million followers, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, who has 7.4 million, Lalu Prasad, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Sharad Pawar, the leader of the NCP (SP), who has 2.9 million, Modi is also ahead of these opposition figures.
Because of his enormous popularity on X, Modi has become a focus point for foreign leaders who want to interact with him to increase the number of their own followers, views, and reposts.
