In a world that is all about haste and material things, sometimes acts of kindness seem like an old-fashioned concept. However , a woman in Ranchi recently posted on a social media platform X, about how she was dealing with intense menstrual pain and could not go outside her house to get medicine.
Turning to Swiggy for food delivery, she made a heartfelt request to the delivery executive for a strip of Meftal. What followed was a touching display of kindness as the agent not only fulfilled her food order but also brought her the much-needed pain relief, going beyond the call of duty to assist her during a difficult time.
In her post, Nandini shared a picture of her medicine Meftal Spas and wrote "I had sharp cramps and couldn't walk to the medical store, so ordered food on @Swiggy and asked the delivery agent if he could buy me medicine. He was really kind enough to get me one. I made sure to tip him and thank him for his kindness."
The post soon got the attention of many of the users which subsequently led to a lot of comments. For some, the driver's kind gesture was an act of compassion and kindness, while others questioned why Nandita did not seek other delivery options like Swiggy Genie. She explained how no delivery app was available at the time due to which she had to order from the food delivery app. She added "Sadly, I couldn't find any online delivery services that deliver medicines in Ranchi. Swiggy genie wasn't available at that time too.”
Since it was posted, the story has garnered over a hundred thousand views and two thousand likes. One user expressed, "That was incredibly kind of him.” Another user commented, "Nice work, but Swiggy offers Genie services that are quite affordable, so you could have used that for getting medicines as well."Amidst the positive response, some negative traction was garnered too, one user said You technically bribed a person for moonlighting at his work. Whole country is corrupt to another level.”
Despite the praise, worries emerged regarding the safety of the medication used to alleviate cramps.
Many users referred to a message of caution that was issued by The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) in December 2023 and shared hyperlinks that warned about risks that are associated with Meftal Spas. The IPC has prohibited the use of this drug, which is an analgesic for a wide range of conditions including menstrual cramps, arthritis, pain, inflammation, fever and dental pain.
This led the discussion towards the significance of consulting healthcare professionals for guidance. In response to these concerns, Nandita provided reassurance by stating that she had strictly followed her doctor's advice and had no doubts about the safety of the medication she used. This serves as a reminder of the importance of consulting healthcare professionals for proper guidance on managing health issues.
