Indians will now soon have the opportunity to travel to the space as mission-based space expedition company, SpaceVIP will launch its ‘luxury space adventures’ services in India next month. This company is also the only company which takes its clients to the International Space Station (ISS).

SpaceVIP specialises in extraordinary experiences, travel and events, making it a bridge between the space industry and the public. Through this company, Indian clients will be able to experience Martian, Lunar and partial gravity as they provide a wide variety of cutting edge space and space-adjacent activities to its clients.

The move to launch its services in India comes after the rise in interest in space activities among the High Net-Worth Individuals in the country. This can also be due to the recent success of Chandrayaan-3 and the rising trend of space tourism in the western world.

Indians

The company has been closely following India's recent advances in space education and space exploration, including the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the lunar south pole and the recent launch of Aditya-L1 towards the Sun's outermost layers, a company official told TOI.

The move also comes in at the time when the Indian government is looking to bring in private enterprises carry out end-to-end activities in space travel which is shown in a report by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which says that the Indian space industry is expected to reach USD 50 billion by 2025, driven by the demand for satellite-based services such as telecommunication, navigation, and earth observation.

On April 20th this year, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released an Indian Space Policy 2023 which was approved and placed in the public domain in August. The policy seeks to institutionalise the private sector's participation in the space sector while allowing the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to focus on research and development of advanced space technologies.
