A major celestial event is going to happen in January 2025 witnessing you lighten up the night sky. A planetary parade is set to happen next January in which six planets will align together, becoming visible for weeks. Soon after, a seventh planet will join the view, giving skygazers a fun New Year's show.
Planets including Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus can be seen together in the sky for the first month of 2025. You can start to see these six planets in the days leading up to January 21, 2025, and they’ll be visible for about four weeks after that.
Four of the planets- Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible from the naked eye while you’ll need a telescope to watch the remaining planets.
The best time to witness this cosmic spectacle is after the sun sets, around 8:30 PM. Keep your eyes peeled for Venus, Saturn, and Neptune low on the horizon. But hurry, as they won't be visible for long and will disappear between 11:30 PM and midnight.
Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus will be visible for most of the night. They'll gradually set, with Mars being the last to say goodbye just before the sun rises. This planetary parade is going to be the best one yet. It will be visible for a long time, making it a great opportunity to witness this celestial event.
The planets will be perfectly aligned, giving you a stunning view for weeks, until the end of February. It is going to be more fun and exciting as the planetary parade will get even better. For a few days, all seven planets of our solar system will be visible at once, including Mercury. However, it might be tricky to spot all seven, especially Saturn, Mercury, and Neptune, as they'll be close to the sun when it sets.
By early March, the show will start to fade as Mercury, Saturn, and Neptune move closer to the sun. Venus will also become less visible. Only Jupiter, Mars, and Uranus will remain visible for a few more weeks.
From where the planetary parade is visible
One can witness this celestial phenomenon from almost all locations, not only in the US but also in Canada, Mexico, and India as it will remain in the sky for weeks.
The best time to see the planetary parade will be from January 21, 2025, to February 21, 2025. The week of January 29, during the new moon, will be the perfect opportunity to catch the best views.
