The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has announced expansions of boundaries affecting various regions within the state. This decision includes the three major cities: Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Prayagraj. Development aims to incorporate several villages into the Development Authorities of these cities, enhancing their infrastructure and governance.
A government spokesperson confirmed that this decision is part of the state’s initiative to improve urban development and also to manage the growing population in these key cities. By including adjacent villages within the Development Authorities, the government aims to ensure better planning, resources allocation, and services for the residents.
In addition to this urban expansion, the Cabinet has approved a stern measure to combat the issue of question paper leaks in Uttar Pradesh. The new proposal introduces life imprisonment for individuals found guilty of leaking examination papers. This stringent measure underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the education system. Alongside imprisonment, those convicted will face a hefty fine of up to ₹1 crore. The ordinance for this proposed law has been formally approved by the Yogi Adityanath-led government, reflecting its zero-tolerance stance on such malpractice.
The Cabinet has also made significant decisions to boost tourism and heritage conservation in the state. One such decision involves the allotment of free land near the Shakumbhari Devi temple to the Tourism Department. This move aims to promote religious tourism and provide better facilities for pilgrims visiting the temple.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved proposals to lease the Rahi tourist houses located in Amethi, Bulandshahr, Barabanki, and Sitapur. These tourist houses will be developed and managed to improve the tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors to these areas.
In an effort to enhance air connectivity and promote tourism, the government has sanctioned the construction of helipads on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Kapilvastu. This initiative will facilitate easier access to these cities, encouraging more tourists and boosting local economies.
The reuse of ancient heritage sites is another significant decision by the Cabinet. The Barsana Jal Mahal in Mathura and Shukla Talab in Kanpur will be redeveloped on a PPP model, aiming to preserve these historical sites while making them accessible to the public. These projects will not only conserve the heritage but also create new tourist attractions, contributing to the cultural richness and tourism of the state.
The Yogi Adityanath led government has also approved a proposal to allocate land in Gorakhpur for developing the Paramhans Yogananda Sthal into a prominent tourist destination. This initiative will celebrate the legacy of Paramhans Yogananda and attract visitors interested in tourism related to spirituality.
In a landmark decision for Ayodhya, the Tata Group will build a temple museum at an estimated cost of ₹750 crore. This museum is funded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, and will be constructed on land provided by the Tourism Department on a 90-year lease. The temple museum is expected to become a major attraction for drawing visitors from across the country and beyond, and significantly contributing to the cultural and religious tourism of Ayodhya.
