In a recent RTI report, it has been revealed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi government spent 64 crores between April-June 2021 on advertisement and publicity.

It is the time period when the residents of Delhi faced scarcity of Hospital beds and Oxygen under the shadow of uncontrollable Second wave of COVID in the country, however in the city it was the 5th wave.

In a similar way, an RTI reply dated April 08 had revealed that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government spent Rs 150 crores from January 2021 to March 2021 on advertisements and publicity through various mediums.

This averages to Rs 1.67 crore daily when the health infrastructure in the national capital had begun to crumble on its knees and CM Arvind Kejriwal had to request Central Government and Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene.

Bharatiya Janata Party's IT chief, Amit Malviya alleged in his tweet that when the people of Delhi were dying due to lack of oxygen, the Delhi government was spending on advertisements. Amit Malviya cited information received from the Right to Information (RTI).

AAP sources, however, claimed that this is the clearance of all pending payments and not just two months and that the allegations that the AAP prioritised these over people's health are totally misleading.

Earlier on Thursday, the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi government to fulfill the promise made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that his administration would pay the rent of migrant workers/poor in view of the Covid-19 pandemic or don't make false promises.

The reply specifies that the total expenditure includes advertisements and publicity through print media, electronic media as well as the internet.

Further, Kejriwal government has spent over 800 crores in advertisement expenses in past two years.
