Trivendra Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand Chief Minister, resigned on Tuesday nine days before completing his four-year tenure. He has been the chief minister of the state for the 10th time since its inception in 2000. N. D Tiwari was the only non-BJP chief minister who served for only 5 years.
He offered his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya. There was growing resentment against Rawat as he appointed Gairsain as a third administrative division without discussing with his colleagues.
Uttarakhand CM was failing in terms of connecting with his party members as they weren’t happy with his style of governing. In the past few weeks, 13 lawmakers filed a complaint against the CM for not listening to them out.
As per the former Uttarakhand BJP Chief, Bureaucrats are becoming in charge of the entire statehood. He wrote this to Nanda, who is the BJP’s party president. Even Nanda said that Rawat will be removed from his role of Chief Minister. He added that the party is losing its charm in Uttarakhand despite Narendra Modi's popularity in the state. According to Dushyant Gautam, BJP in-charge of Uttarkhand, Rawat will be given different positions in the party.
On Wednesday, the party leaders were looking for a potential candidate for the post of Chief minister. The list of candidates includes State minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni, and Lok Sabha member Ajay Bhatt.
However, Tirath Singh Rawat was sworn in as the new Chief Minister Of Uttarakhand at Raj Bhawan. He served as a member of RSS for five years. He was also an AVBP state organisation and later on a national organisation as well. Later on, he enters mainstream politics by joining hands with BJP. in the year 2012, he became an MLA from Uttarakhand’s Chaubattakhal constituency.
In 2013, he became the state president of Uttarkhand BJP by BJP’s national leadership as he was skilled in organisation building. Amit Shah, during his tenure as the party’s president, made Tirath Singh as National secretary of BJP. During the Lok Sabha election, he won the seats from the Garhwal constituency by a margin of more than 2.85 lakhs.
