According to BRS working president KT Rama Rao, the BJP-led Centre could announce Hyderabad as a union territory after June 2.

Hyderabad was designated as the shared capital for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for a ten-year period under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.

This year's June 2 would mark the end of the 10-year term. According to him, there are sufficient signs that Hyderabad would become a union territory after June 2, thus the and the Congress may declare it as such.

The only party that could stop the BJP-led Centre's intentions was the BRS, assuming it had enough MPs in the Parliament, and even then, the Congress would not be able to stop them(BJP).

In addition to relocating Godavari water from Telangana to other States under the guise of interlinking rivers, the BJP planned to eliminate reservations for SC and ST if it were to secure a two-thirds majority in the Parliament.

Rama Rao stated during a party meeting here on Sunday that more BRS MPs needed to be elected in order to stop the Centre from making such actions.

In response to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's remarks that the BRS and BJP had reached an agreement for the parliamentary elections, Rama Rao questioned why, if that were the case, the BJP would have jailed MLC K Kavitha. In the most recent Assembly elections, the BRS triumphed over the candidacies of BJP MLAs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Etala Rajender, Dharmapuri Arvind, and M Raghunandan Rao.

Revanth Reddy stated that it was clear who was in a deal because he had filed dummy candidates in the Malkajgiri and Chevella seats to support BJP candidates.

It was stated by Revanth Reddy that BRS would not win any MP seats. However, Minister of Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had threatened to quit if the BRS secured one seat. Rama Rao said that Bandi Sanjay had also declared he would step down from politics in the event that BRS candidate B Vinod Kumar won the Karimnagar election.

Changes if Hyderabad becomes a UT

If Hyderabad becomes a Union Territory, it will mean that there will be no MLAs from Hyderabad.

There are two ways a Union Territory can exist:
1. Utilizing a Legislature
2. Without a House of Representatives

In the first scenario, a Legislative Assembly will exist, like in Puducherry and Delhi.

In the second scenario, there won't be any MLAs as in Chandigarh, a Union Territory that lacks a Legislative Assembly.

There won't be any MLAs in Hyderabad if it is designated as a Union territory without a Legislative Assembly. A Governor selected by the Central Government will oversee all administration, except from political problems.

In 2014, when Andhra Pradesh split into two separate states, Hyderabad was designated as the joint capital for ten years. The city's tenure as the state capital ends on June 2.

Political leaders in Andhra Pradesh, however, are calling for an additional ten years to be added to the period. Hyderabad will remain a member of the capital if the demand is granted.

KTR now asserted that after June 2, the Central Government might designate Hyderabad as a Union Territory.

What happens to Hyderabad after June 2 is not yet confirmed and is to be determined.
