The Tirupati district's Chandragiri constituency recently came to life. This occurred on Thursday, when Chevireddy Mohith Reddy, the chairman of the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA), organized a sizable rally before to submitting his nomination at the constituency offices.

Mohith Reddy's campaign event was attended by State Tourism Minister and Nagari MP RK Roja, as well as incumbent MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy.

At just 26 years old, Mohith Reddy is among the youngest candidates running for the parliament in 2024. He is the son of Dr. Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, a two-time legislator from Chandragiri who is running for parliament from Ongole on the YSRCP ticket.

In Chandragiri, Mohith Reddy will compete against Pulivarthi Nani of the TDP in an election that transcends all boundaries. In the 2019 elections, Pulivarthi Nani was beaten by Mohith's father, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, by an unprecedented margin of 41755 votes.

Despite the lack of support on the ground, the TDP hesitated at first but ultimately decided to field Pulivarthi Nani in Chandragiri again since they were unable to locate a suitable replacement.

Even more intriguing is the fact that, despite being the home seat of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Chandragiri is home to his hometown hamlet of Naravaripalli. This constituency, which was formerly a pillar of support for the Congress party, is now a bastion for the YSRCP.

In 1978, Chandrababu Naidu made his electoral debut in the Chandragiri constituency, where he ran successfully on the banner of the Congress party. In the 1983 elections, which marked the Telugu Desam Party's first election following its founding in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu lost to TDP candidate Venkataramana Naidu Medasani. Naidu then joined the TDP and moved his support base to the outlying Kuppam assembly constituency, where he has been unbeaten since 1989.

Speaking with media on Thursday following his nomination file from the Chandragiri constituency, Mohith Reddy expressed optimism that the YSRCP will reclaim its dominance in the seat, where the TDP has failed to win an election in thirty years.
