Multiple farmer unions have announced plans to organise a protest rally in support of CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur, who is alleged to have slapped BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport on Thursday. The incident has given rise to significant controversies and calls for justice from various groups.
Farmer outfits are planning the "Insaaf (Justice) March" in Mohali, Punjab, on June 9, demanding fair treatment for Kulwinder Kaur. They are also asking for a thorough investigation into the events that led to the incident. The Bollywood actor and newly elected BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, claimed that Kaur slapped her during a security check. According to Kaur, the action was in response to Ranaut's controversial remarks about Punjabi women who participated in the farmers' protest.

Prominent farmer organisations such as Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have voiced their stand in support for Kulwinder Kaur. Leaders from these groups, including SKM (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher, have expressed their plan to meet with Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. They aim for a proper and unbiased investigation into the matter, as reported by news agency PTI.
"We will demand a proper investigation and we will tell him that there should be no injustice with the woman constable," stated Jagjit Singh Dallewal during a press conference.
On June 9, the planned "Insaaf March" will proceed to the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police in Mohali. The demonstrators call for justice and emphasise that no unfair measures should be taken against the constable. This rally will draw significant attention and participation from farmer groups and supporters of Kaur.
Kulwinder Kaur's brother, Sher Singh, who is also a farmer leader and serves as the organisation secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, has been actively involved in mobilising support for his sister.
In response to the incident, the CISF has suspended Kulwinder Kaur and established a probe panel to investigate the alleged incident. The suspension has further increased the demands for a fair and transparent investigation from various quarters.
The incident has brought to light the ongoing tensions between Kangana Ranaut and the farming community, from her previous remarks about the farmers' protests. Ranaut, known for her outspoken nature and controversial statements, has frequently found herself at odds with different groups.
